Austrocylindropuntia vestita 'Old Man Opuntia'

•  Austrocylindropuntia vestita 'Old Man Opuntia' has columnar branching dark green stems covered in white hair that grow in a a clumping fashion and can reach over 12" in height.
• Produces large red flower that typically bloom in the summer. 
• Easily propagated from offsets.
• Hardy to Zone 9 (20° F). Austrocylindropuntia will not survive a hard frost. However, cactus can easily be grown indoors under grow lights or in a sunny window if there is a risk of temperatures dropping below 20° F. 

Austrocylindropuntia Care: As with all cactus, it is best to follow a "soak and dry" schedule where you water your plants deeply (until water runs out the bottom drain holes), and then allow your soil to dry completely before watering again. Cactus should always be planted in well-draining cactus and succulent soil and in a pot or container that has drain holes. This sp. requires frequent water during its growing season but is prone to root rot, making well draining soil very important for this cactus.
